Recently the Kiwanis Club of Cloverdale reluctantly made the decision to cancel the 2020 Oktoberfest scheduled for October 3rd. The Oktoberfest relies on sponsorships and
donations and the Kiwanis club felt it would be difficult and insensitive to ask in this current economic situation.
Another concern pertained to physical distancing and group gathering restrictions. Putting on the Oktoberfest starts months ahead of the event with event marketing, planning and
soliciting donations. Without knowing for sure what the health and gathering guidelines will be in a few months, the Kiwanis
Club felt it couldn’t afford to spend the funds necessary for a successful event without the assurance that it could
actually take place as scheduled. The funds generated from Oktoberfest support the Kiwanis Club’s administrative
account and help the club meet their financial obligations.
Oktoberfest Chair, Laurie Kneeland stated “As chair of the Oktoberfest, I want to thank everyone who has supported
this event through the years – especially our sponsors,
vendors, volunteers and all of you who have made this event so successful.”
Now, the Kiwanis Club of Cloverdale is looking forward to next year’s Oktoberfest and Courtney’s Pumpkin Patch,
scheduled for Saturday, October 2nd, 2021. Mark your
calendars! For more information, please contact
