Fall is a bit of a melancholy time for me each year with the skies darkening and the daylight hours becoming shorter. The falling leaves remind me that it is also the time of year both my father and my brother passed decades ago. In the last few years, we have lost so many friends. It’s the natural circle of life, however those words sometimes provide little comfort. For me, Fall is that turning season as we head into happier holiday celebrations and although it’s a bit of a bumpy ride, I hang on knowing that there are good things on the horizon.
Thanksgiving marks the beginning of the holiday season for me, when the cheerful holiday lights begin to go up. I have some friends who send a Thanksgiving/Gratitude greeting card out each year instead of a “Christmas” card, with what we all need to be reminded of – count your blessings, your friends, your family and all that is good and wonderful in your life. So, I do. And I feel better. I am blessed.
I’ll see you around town!
