Braised Pork in Sweet Soy Sauce
Tender pieces of pork in a flavorful sauce with a touch of heat. This is a great way to switch up the weekly rotation with an easy to make takeout like Chinese style dish. I serve this over white rice or rice noodles. Makes four servings
Ingredients
2 lbs pork loin
2 TBS vegetable oil
1 TBS each minced garlic & ginger
1 TBS olive oil
1 TBS sesame oil
½ cup soy sauce
4 TBS sugar
1 ½ cups water
1 TBS chili garlic sauce
2 green onions chopped for garnish (optional)
Cut the pork into 1 inch pieces and sauté in pan with the vegetable oil for about 3 minutes on medium heat, until the pork is no longer pink & starts to brown.
In a medium bowl mix the remaining ingredients, pour over the pork and bring to a boil. You might think there is too much water, but it will reduce down.
Once it’s boiling, reduce the heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes uncovered stirring occasionally. There should be about 3 tbsp of sauce left.
Serve over rice or noodles
