Lloyd Robert Mittelstadt was born July 30, 1928 in Gackle, North Dakota and died on September 6, 2021 at age 93. When he was 14 Lloyd took the train alone from North Dakota to California, joined his father in Cloverdale
and worked in the timber and lumber industry for 50 years. Lloyd operated Barnes Lumber with his brother, Leonard Mittelstadt.
Lloyd enjoyed hunting, fishing and outdoor sports and was a long-time member of the Cloverdale Lions Club. When he retired, he and his wife Mary Jane traveled throughout Europe and the United States. Lloyd leaves his wife Mary Jane, his ten children and stepchildren and their spouses, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, his sister Palma and several nieces and nephews. Services were held in September and donations are encouraged in Lloyd’s memory to the Cloverdale History Center.
