Two things I’ve discovered:

  1. There is nothing that I must do, say, think, feel, accomplish, prove, create, destroy, manipulate, manage, arrange, judge, give, receive, see, hear, taste, smell, or touch in order for my life to be perfect and complete just as it is in this moment.
  2. There never was.” (Greg Carter 1/2021)

The Carter family moved to Cloverdale in 1998 from Orange County, California.  Beginning in 2000 Greg worked locally on computers. He was the original owner of Cloverdale Computer.  In 2005 he joined Kiwanis and his wife Julie joined shortly afterward. Through the years he worked on many projects.  His most passionate community project was bringing the Imagination Library to Cloverdale.  Through his efforts and those of other Kiwanis members, nearly 30,000 books have been given to local kids.  As a source of funding for the Imaginations Library, Greg created the Cloverdale Harvest Runs in 2010.  This grew into the Cloverdale Kiwanis Vineyard Runs which are held annually in October in the Gallo Vineyards.  Greg’s community connections have also included Toastmasters, Friend of Lake Sonoma, Relay for Life, 4-H and Scouting. .

He became an avid hiker and trail runner exploring many places including Mt Fuji, the Grand Canyon, and the Southwestern deserts.  Over the years Lake Sonoma became his sanctuary, as he hiked and ran every trail. . The best trails were those shared with family and friends. So his Celebration of Life will take place on June 27, at the South Lake Trailhead at Lake Sonoma 2 -5 P.M. This will be an open house style event. Using an abundance of caution masks will be required.

Greg was preceded in death by both of his parents Bill and Ola Carter, who also lived in Cloverdale. Greg is survived by his siblings Savannah and Stan, his wife Julie, his children Greg, Will and Clay, grandson Ezra and a large extended family
