Stephen Thomas Johnson died peacefully on March 6, 2024. With him at the time of his departure were loved ones and caring medical staff at UCSF Parnassus, the same location he underwent a life-saving lung transplant 17 years prior. Stephen is survived by his sister Linda Moyer, daughter, Meghan Johnson, and step children Jennifer and Jonathan Reap. A life-long academic and love for geology, Stephen spent most of his adult life in Sonoma County, driving back roads as a building inspector and slowing down family road trips to get a good look at a rock.

With a quirky sense of humor, Stephen loved to tell jokes to friends and strangers and had a creative knack for finding ways to extend conversations with baristas and cashiers. After enjoying several real-life travel adventures, he
shifted to armchair travel by watching sailing YouTube videos and dreamt of living on a sailboat. He’ll be remembered as a nutty professor with a big heart and will be missed by family and friends.
