How to get your money back when an airline won’t refund.
Getting money back from an airline when it’s unwilling is difficult. But you have a few options:

Contact the airline and make a polite but firm request
Many refund requests happen either by phone or on the airline website. You have to take it up a notch if you want to move to the top of the stack A polite but firm request sent to a manager in writing may be enough to fast-track your refund request. Ask regulators to help you with your refund
The Department of Transportation can assist with tickets purchased in the United States. If you’re owed a refund but haven’t received it yet, a complaint sent to the DOT (https://www.transportation.gov/airconsumer/file-
consumer-complaint) may motivate your airline to move faster. If you’re in Europe, you’ll need to find the country’s
regulatory agency (https://www.easa.europa.eu/domains/international-cooperation/easa-by-country) and file a
complaint. It may feel like you’re sending your information into a black hole, but complaints often get results.

File a credit card dispute
Under the Fair Credit Billing Act, you can file a chargeback for goods or services purchased but not received. Some banks will tell you that you have 60 days to file a chargeback from the time you receive your credit card bill. But both Visa and MasterCard allow chargebacks up to 120 days from the transaction date. They extend it by another 120 days when there’s a bankruptcy. Remember, a credit card dispute should be your last resort when you need a refund. Give the airline a chance to do the right thing.

The 4th of July for me is a great time to BBQ & I love these apple cider soaked baby back ribs. I know you will as well.

Apple City Baby Back Ribs

Apple Cider Soak
1 ½ cups apple or juice
¾ cup cider vinegar
½ medium onion, minced
1 ½ Tablespoon Worcestershire
1 tablespoon oil, corn or canola
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon dried thyme
2 slabs of baby back ribs or Saint Louis style ribs

Apple Rib Rub
¼ cup brown sugar
4 teaspoons onion powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon dried thyme

Apple Rib Mop (optional)
1 ½ cups apple cider or juice
½ cup cider vinegar
4 teaspoons Worcestershire

Marinade the ribs overnight in the cider soak, pull and dry a bit and use the rib rub to coat and pack the ribs. I slow cook this indirect on the Weber at 250 or so for 3 hours…I do not use the rib mop as the sugar seems to caramelize the ribs and I feel there is no need for it.

Jerome Wolter passed away peacefully at his home in Cloverdale, CA surrounded by his loving family on June 2, 2022, after a difficult battle with cancer.  Jerome was born in Philadelphia and moved to Cloverdale with is parents 25 years ago. He was employed with International Wood Products and enjoyed the beautiful California scenery while driving his “big rig” truck daily. Jerome was preceded in death by his mother, Arlene Campbell. He is survived by his parents Gus and Cindy Wolter of Cloverdale; his sisters, Amy Fowler, Collegeville PA and Dorothy Mayer (Jeff Winokur) of Langhorne PA; his two nephews Brandon and Andrew also of Langhorne PA, and his longtime close friend, Jenifer Borges. Jerome is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

Richard Pellegrini 1932-2022

Richard was born at Healdsburg General Hospital to Ruth Finney Pellegrini and Raoul Pellegrini. He had deep roots in Sonoma and Mendocino counties; at one time, his
Pellegrini grandparents owned the Asti grocery store. His maternal grandparents were Grace and Charles Finney; Charles was a blacksmith in Booneville.

Richard spent most of his life in Cloverdale, moving to Healdsburg in later years. He met his wife, Marie Butler, at the Harvest Fair in 1997, where they shared a booth, both volunteering for their respective Chambers of Commerce, Richard was proud to have been a Chevron representative and owner of the Chevron Service Station in Cloverdale for over 35 years. He also owned the Napa Auto Parts store, and was a realtor. Upon retirement, he worked part-time at ACE Hardware in Cloverdale, and enjoyed golf, gardening, travel, and being a “handy-man.”

Richard was always been involved in the community, and he served on the board of Rotary International, Cloverdale (Past President), the Druids Grove #203, and the Cloverdale Citrus Fair. Richard was also active in the Cloverdale Chamber of Commerce and other service, social, and business organizations. He was a Paul Harris Fellow. He served in the Korean Conflict from 1951-1955, aboard the Escort Carrier, USS Point Cruz.

His love of cars led to him racing with the Northern California Racing Association (NCRA) circuit for many years, with car number 14, a super-modified he built himself. His daredevil spirit once had him veering off-track, landing into a barn alongside a startled cow after he missed one turn.

He also loved flying and had his pilot’s license. He and Marie enjoyed going to the Reno Air Races. A Forty-Niner football fan, Richard held season tickets for many years. He cheered on the San Francisco Giants, as well.

He is survived by a daughter, Janice Garner (Michael) of Santa Rosa, son, Daniel Pellegrini of Hawaii, and step-son Corey Butler (Mitsuyo) of Pt. Mugu Naval Air Station, CA. He is a grandfather of five, and great-grandfather of four. Richard has one brother, Gene Pellegrini (Lee Morris) of Santa Rosa; his sister was the late Fay Seghesio.

Richard was a kind and generous man, deeply loved by family and friends. A life well-lived. A life well-loved.
