In November we celebrate one of my favorite holidays. Thanksgiving. I love the smell of a roasting turkey and like most families there is always plenty of leftovers. My mom aways used the leftover turkey meat to make this very easy one pan meal and on the cold evenings it’s a belly warming meal.

Ingredients
• 4 tbsp. (½ stick) unsalted butter
• 8 oz. crimini mushrooms, sliced (about 2½ C)
• ½ medium yellow onion, finely chopped
• 1 medium carrot, peeled and finely chopped
• 1 stalk celery, finely chopped
• 6 tbsp. all-purpose flour, divided
• 2 C low-sodium chicken broth or use the turkey carcass to make stock
• 1½ C whole milk
• Kosher salt
• Freshly ground black pepper
• 1½ lb. cooked turkey breast or combination of white & dark meat, cut into 1” chunks
• 1 C frozen petite peas or mixed vegetables
• ¼ C chopped fresh parsley
• Warm biscuits, puff pastry shells, toast, or cornbread, for serving

Directions:

1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt butter. Add mushrooms, onion, carrot, and celery and cook, stirring often, until softened, 8 to 10 minutes.
2. Add 4 tablespoons flour and quickly stir to coat vegetables. Immediately whisk in broth, milk, 1½ teaspoons salt, and 1 teaspoon pepper. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce heat to medium and simmer, stirring often, until thickened, 3 to 5 minutes. Add 1 to 2 tablespoons flour if needed to thicken. Fold in turkey and peas and cook, stirring occasionally, until warmed through, 4 to 6 minutes.
3. Divide turkey mixture among plates. Top with parsley. Serve with biscuits alongside.

Tamarind Blackmon Driver passed away on 11/3/2018, born 11/14/1997. He lived his entire life in Cloverdale and attended all 3 schools there, graduating from Cloverdale High School in 2015. He was awarded the Doyle Scholarship and Knights of Columbus Scholarship. He pursued his higher education at Cal State Monterey.

Tamarind passed in his sleep at home and at the time of his death was survived by his mother Teri, father Mike, sisters Katie and Catherine, and his brother Desmond. He was also survived by his grandparents Randy and Diane. Tamarind had many aunts, cousins, friends and a special friend, Adrienne. Tamarind is sorely missed and never forgotten.

Here are some important updates on current transportation planning efforts within the City of Cloverdale, designed to make our community more accessible and enjoyable. These initiatives include the creation of an Active
Transportation Plan (ATP) and the updating of the City’s General Plan Circulation Element.

The ATP planning process is a critical initiative aimed at enhancing the quality of life for all residents by promoting
active transportation modes such as walking, biking, and rolling.

What is an ATP? The Sonoma County ATP focuses on improving access to active transportation modes through infrastructure projects and supportive programs, including essential features such as bike routes, lanes, paths, street crossings, and amenities to make walking and biking more accessible and enjoyable for all ages and abilities. An active transportation plan is a comprehensive strategy developed to promote and support forms of transportation that involve physical activity, such as walking and cycling. The primary goal of such a plan is to create more sustainable and healthier transportation options for communities.

Why Have an ATP:
• Enables changes to enhance people’s quality of life
• Allows for prioritized and coordinated improvements
• Meet eligibility requirements for grant funding
• Guides public and private investment

Components of the ATP The ATP integrates industry best practices, covering a wide range of topics:
• On-Street Bikeway Selection & Design
• Multiuse Paths & Bike Highways
• Street Crossings & Intersections
• Amenities to Improve User Experience

Community Engagement and Funding – Community engagement is a vital part of the plan, ensuring that local needs and insights are considered. Identifying priorities for implementation and aligning funding opportunities are key steps to make this vision a reality.

Vision and Goals – The draft vision statement aims to create a transportation system that is safe and inviting for people of all ages and abilities, fostering walking, biking, and rolling for everyday transportation and recreation.
Local Focus and Coordination – Your insights as part of the City of Cloverdale are crucial in shaping the local plan to reflect your community’s unique needs and opportunities.

Engagement with the City of Cloverdale – The City of Cloverdale will play an integral role in the ATP process. The timeline for community engagement includes discussions on existing conditions, needs, and opportunities, as well as draft project proposals, policies, and programs, with a public draft plan expected in late 2024.
