A Tribute to Chuck Sibert by fellow Cloverdale Lion, John Turner

The Cloverdale Lions Club is honored to provide this tribute to Chuck Sibert. A Cloverdale Lion for 38 years, Chuck joined the Lions Club on August 1, 1982 and was the chairperson taking care of the Pyrospectacular Fireworks show for at least 35 years. This year’s 2020 Fourth of July fireworks show, which was cancelled, would have been held in his memory.

Chuck was a family man who truly loved his family and his friends. He is survived by his wife Becki and their children, Keri (Steve), Dede, Darren (Nina) and Lisa (Ron) plus many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved hunting, playing 3 card poker and having a couple Canadian Club and 7ups once in a while. Chuck was always caught with that GREAT smile on his face and dearly loved to give waitresses a bad time when they waited on him, in jest of course. Chuck also was a romantic of sorts – he and his bride Becki would take turns celebrating their anniversary at different locations every year. They would alternate choosing the location of their celebration and would try really hard to keep the location secret until they actually got in their car to leave. Chuck was an unbelievable friend and a serious pleasure to spend time with.

When Chuck was in his early twenties, he had a tragic accident and lost his leg. He was tough as nails, NEVER complained to anyone about the loss of his limb and went on to do many things in his life that other people would not be able to accomplish.

Chuck was an avid loving fan of Hot August Nights in Reno every year in August. His birthday was August 3rd and that big car show was always that time of year so he never missed that event. He also was always in Reno for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day and believe me, The Peppermill Casino and Hotel was always glad to see him. Sandy and I and Chuck and Becki were in Reno together for those 2 events every year for many many years.

Chuck was also known in the logging business as one of the best informed and self- taught business people around the Cloverdale area. Chuck bought the Cloverdale Saw and Mower Center in 1976 and now his son Darren owns the shop and runs the business. Darren has worked with his father for about 28 years. Chuck knew his products, how to sell them and how to mechanically service them as well. He was a GREAT teacher and it shows as you now see his son Darren running the Saw Center as Chuck would have wanted him to do. Chuck Sibert is missed EVERY day by family and friends. He will be LOVED forever. It is a pleasure to call Chuckie my friend.

WHY THE 2020 CENSUS MATTERS

Every 10 years, people across the country and in California fill out the Census in order to have an accurate count of all people in the United States. The Census determines California’s federal funding for important community services that help support our families and a fair share of representation in California and Washington D.C.
The 2020 Census is happening now! You have three ways to complete the Census: online, by phone and by mail. The Census will secure resources that will benefit our communities for the next ten years.

There’s a lot at stake in the 2020 Census and our communities can’t afford an undercount. Essential neighborhood resources throughout California rely on federal funding that is based on the information collected during the Census.
California is coming together to ensure that everyone in our state is counted in the 2020 Census. The Census uplifts the voices of our families, friends and neighbors across the Golden State. The power to shape our future is in our hands.

We have the power to shape the future of our state and our country by participating in the 2020 Census. This is our chance to uplift our communities and we must work together to ensure everyone is counted. California is stronger with a complete count.

The 2020 Census will help decide how billions of dollars will reach our families. Your answers will help determine funding for dozens of programs that provide essential resources to Californians. Census data determines funding allocations for schools, child care programs, road maintenance projects and social assistance programs.
The 2020 Census will determine the number of representatives California has in the U.S. House of Representatives and the number of votes we have in the Electoral College. Your information will also be used to redraw State Assembly and Senate boundaries. Participating in the 2020 Census ensures that you and your communities have fair representation.

Information collected during the 2020 Census can’t be shared or used against you in any way. Your information is only used to generate statistics, it can’t be shared with immigration or law enforcement agencies, and it can’t be used to determine your eligibility for government benefits. Your privacy and security are taken seriously.
For complete information go to https://californiacensus.org
