In 2019, I was able to open a coffee shop here in town and the response from the Community was incredible. My name is Hannah Gart and here are a few things I would like to accomplish as part of your city council. Strengthen the infrastructure and energy of our downtown to build a more vibrant community. This includes filling vacant commercial properties with businesses to support our economic growth. Support children and families by providing healthy recreational activities and events. Continue to promote and support local small businesses through monthly highlights and effective marketing strategies. Seek grants and/or fundraise for specific projects that will enhance Cloverdale. Collaborate more closely with the County to ensure we are included in large

My name is Todd Lands. I am running for re-election to the Cloverdale City Council. It has been an honor to serve the community where I was born and raised and where I’ve raised my children. I’ve had the good fortune of successfully working with the community and staff to make progress on critical issues such as homelessness, public safety, infrastructure, and parks and open spaces. For the last three years, my colleagues on the City Council have appointed me as Mayor because of their faith in my ability to deliver results. There’s still a lot of work to be done. Issues such as water security, economic stability, fire resilience, and environmental integrity hang in the balance. I’m ready to keep working for my community. My name is Mark Laskey. I’d like my one voice to be your voice at the table of our government. Having called Cloverdale my home for the past 7 years, and with 35 years in Sonoma County, I am deeply committed to our community and its future. With a background in Project Management, I bring a wealth of skills, experience, and passion for this role. My career spans over 40 years, encompassing a diverse range of experiences that have equipped me with a comprehensive skill set. My service in the US Navy instilled in me a keen attention to detail. My work in the trades fostered a strong sense of responsibility. My experience as a business owner taught me the importance of exceptional customer service. My name is Andrés Marquez. I was born in the Bay Area and I’m the owner of Symphonic Finishing, a painting and general contracting business. Since moving to Cloverdale my wife and I have been actively involved in the community. This will play a key role in how I understand what issues matter the most. Today, based on many conversations with members of our community these are some of the issues I’d like to focus on as a City Council Member. 1) Increase communication with our schools; 2) Identify additional ways to maximize our spending dollars; 3) Get involved with the current work being done to support local businesses. I am a registered No Party Preference candidate that genuinely wants to focus on strengthening Cloverdale. Thank you for this

Brian Wheeler

I am a 26.5 year veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. My family and I moved to Cloverdale in 2017 and have been impressed with the small town feel. As a candidate for City Council, I would like to preserve that small town feel by ensuring our Law enforcement has community support, we conserve water as a community, and we use the revenue streams and tax dollars in the most efficient manner. Also, I believe Cloverdale would benefit from some enhancements to the downtown area. I would love to see Cloverdale become a sought after destination/town for business growth and tourism growth. As a City Council member, I would like to work closely with the community and City leadership to accomplish these goals. I believe a “boots on the ground” approach is the way to accomplish this.

Serving you as a City Council Member over the past 20 years has been an honor. I’ve had the privilege to help guide our City through a period of rebuilding and difficult times. I’ve worked hard to ensure we move Cloverdale in the right direction.

I have a proven track record of leadership, integrity and vision. Council must control growth to reflect the vision of our community, not to become a high priced over populated City in the heart of the Wine Country. We need smart growth while preserving and enhancing the natural beauty of Cloverdale, and maintaining its affordability.

In 2007, I was awarded the Sonoma County Spirit Award and the Entrepreneurial Spirit Award from Governor Schwarzenegger, recognizing my work with SAFE-BIDCO, California’s State Loan Guarantee Program. As a 3rd generation Cloverdale resident, I have a lifelong appreciation for Cloverdale and all those who call our community home.

As a School Board Member for the last eight years, including service as School Board President, I’ve worked to improve the financial sustainability of our school district, averting a state takeover of the district due to its negative financial status when I joined the Board to building up a $2.5 million reserve fund to help soften the blow from the next financial downturn.

As a small business owner, I’ve gained extensive experience managing payroll and a budget, skills that will be more important than ever as local governments brace for the imminent financial ramifications brought forth by the coronavirus pandemic.

As a husband and father of two teenage daughters attending Cloverdale High School, I am committed to improving our community for them and all our residents on issues of sustainable economic development, greater access to the workforce housing, investing in our infrastructure and balancing our city’s budget while preserving the quality-of-life for all those who live, work and are raising a family or enjoying their retirement in this unique and special place.

Nicole Garcia Hinchliffe

As a child of small business owners, I know the importance of community relations and I have seen, firsthand, the struggles that small businesses balance. Small businesses are the engine to community economics. As a United States Air Force Veteran from the 349th Civil Engineering squadron, I was involved with infrastructure support, responding, and preparing for all deployments and natural disasters. As I transitioned from Active Duty, I moved to Sonoma county and enrolled at SRJC’s Agriculture Business program and worked in hospitality where I developed the knowledge of our county’s agriculture needs as well as understanding how to successfully manage accounts and budgets. As we’ve become so very welcomed by the community, I decided to get more involved by volunteering with our Community Garden, Sonoma Family Meal, Senior Center, Kiwanis, and occasionally, Rotary. I couldn’t help but think that Cloverdale deserves a leader like myself; passionate, approachable, honest, and holds integrity. As a Councilmember, I plan to implement my skills earned from military service, education, and heart for our city’s success, communication and community activities. It would be an honor to have your vote in November.

Jenny Candelaria-Orr

Cloverdale has been my home for the past six years. It is very similar to the small town that I grew up loving, which is why my husband and I decided to raise our daughter, Isla, here. As an educator of thirteen years, I have an objective mindset and the experience of working with diverse opinions to solve a problem and this is exactly how I will serve the residents of Cloverdale, if I am elected to the city council. Like any small town, Cloverdale has to look towards the future and plan.

Cloverdale will have to deal with problems known and those that are unknown. To do this, community leaders have to make tough choices, be transparent, be able to compromise, and most of all, consistently listen to the residents of Cloverdale. These are my beliefs; and if elected, they will guide me in creating positive change for Cloverdale.
